Questions

Everything you need to know

How do I get to Lecce?

Lecce is well connected by train, with direct Frecciarossa and Intercity services from Rome (approximately 4.5 hours) and connections from Milan, Florence, and Naples. From Brindisi airport (45 minutes by train or taxi) and Bari airport (approximately 1.5 hours by train) there are regular connections. We recommend travelling by train as parking in the historic centre is restricted.

Where should I stay?

We recommend staying in the historic centre of Lecce, within easy walking distance of the venue. In addition to hotels, there are many charming B&Bs and apartments in the old town. Please book early as October is a popular time to visit Puglia.

Will there be guided tours of Lecce?

Yes, we are planning guided walking tours of the historic centre for guests who are interested. The schedule is still to be confirmed — we want to hear how many people would like to join first. Please indicate your interest in the RSVP form.

What should I wear?

The dress code is dark suit for men, smart elegant for women. October in Lecce is warm during the day (around 20°C) and mild in the evening, so a light layer for later is a good idea. Women who wear heels should note that the streets of the historic centre are cobblestoned — comfortable heels or wedges are recommended over stilettos. For outfit inspiration, you can browse the Instagram or YouTube channel of Atmosfera Blu, the company providing music for our wedding. Their videos often feature wedding guests too. How does the church ceremony work?

The church follows the traditional seating arrangement: the bride's guests sit on the left and the groom's guests on the right.

Why is there no exact schedule?

Italian weddings flow organically — timings are a guide rather than a strict plan. There will naturally be time between the ceremony and the venue for greetings, photographs, and the general joy of the occasion. We will share indicative times closer to the date.

What happens at the reception?

On arrival you will be welcomed with drinks, followed by a long antipasti spread before moving to the dining area. You may not see us right away — we will be with the photographer. We will join the party during the welcome drinks or antipasti depending on timing, and we will say a proper personal goodbye to each of you as you leave at the end of the evening. There is plenty of food and wine throughout. One thing worth knowing: in Italy it is considered socially unacceptable to appear visibly drunk. We hope everyone will enjoy themselves and keep to a celebratory spirit throughout.

What should I know about wedding etiquette?

As a small thank-you for joining us, we will give each family unit a bomboniera — a small wedding favour. It has been chosen to travel well in hand luggage.

What about a wedding gift?

The best gift is having you there with us. If you would like to give something, we would be grateful for a contribution to our honeymoon. IBAN: dnejdnej Name: Kaisa Ylinen ja Andrea Sciurti

Is there a children's menu?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate children. Please include their ages when you RSVP.

Are dietary requirements catered for?

Absolutely. Please indicate any dietary requirements, allergies, or intolerances in your RSVP. We will do our best to accommodate everyone, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.

Will there be Finnish and Italian traditions?

Yes. The celebration will blend both cultures and you can expect elements from each throughout the day.

What if I have more questions?

Ice Breaker

Two Cultures, One Table

A short cultural guide to help everyone feel at home.

Italian greetings

+

In Italy, people greet each other with cheek kisses. Many just bring cheeks together without a sound, others add a kissing sound — it depends on the person. Most guests will simply shake hands, but for example Andrea's mother may well give cheek kisses to everyone. A good rule: lead with your left cheek and do it twice (left first, then right).

Kippis & Cin cin

+

Finnish tradition calls for eye contact with everyone at the table when raising a glass — for good luck. Italians find this charmingly intense, and it works brilliantly as an ice breaker.

The wedding is a marathon

+

Italian weddings are long, and that is entirely the point. There will be antipasti, multiple courses, and plenty of pauses in between. Pace yourself from the start — eat slowly and enjoy the ride.

Finnish silence is comfortable

+

If your Finnish neighbour goes quiet, it does not mean they are bored or unhappy. They are simply enjoying the moment. For Finns, silence is relaxed, not awkward.
